CoCo - 3 Month Old Puppy with Heart Defect Needs Immediate Surgery

Organized by No Paw Left Behind

Update on Coco!
We have great news! We had a consultation today with the surgeon who will be performing surgery on CoCo. The surgery is pretty risky because it is a Thoracotomy (open heart surgery), but the surgeon is confident that if she makes it through surgery that she should have a full recovery! Her condition is called a Persistent Right Aortic Arch (PRAA). The surgeon really wants to get her in for surgery no later than 2 weeks and will schedule us as soon as we can raise the money for her surgery! This little puppy is so sweet and loving and she deserves the chance to have a normal puppy life that she could have after surgery.
CoCo needs our help!
CoCo was rescued from MDAS a few weeks ago. She was very skinny and starved for food and attention. She was placed immediately in one of our regular puppy foster homes. Her foster mom told us that she would throw up everything she ate and cry afterwards. We took her in for tests, all of her tests came back negative for any diseases. The vet took a barium dye xray and determined that this poor puppy has an aortic heart defect that is causing her heart to constrict her esophagus, which only allows a small amount of liquid food to pass to her stomach. She will not survive much longer without surgery. This is also a very expensive surgery that our rescue simply cannot afford and we need help to give CoCo the chance at life that she deserves.
